Fiancee’s tips come in handy for Pulkit’s journo turn
Pulkit Samrat’s role in O Teri is that of a TV journalist, and the actor drew a lot of references from real life for his character. He says, “I play the presenter and Bilal (Amrohi) plays the cameraperson. To prepare for the role, we visited some news channels in Film City in Noida and spent the entire day with journalists. We understood how they talk, their psyche, what their entire day is like, how they coordinate the news coming in and at the same time calmly present it to the viewers.

Delhi is the political centre, so we had to come here for our research and shooting,” And his list of references doesn’t stop there. Pulkit’s fiancee, Shweta, was another inspiration. “My fiancee used to write for a couple of publications as a freelancer. I had seen her working and I knew the kind of preparation that went behind it. I did pick up some things from there. Actually, the kind of nervousness I show in the film is what I picked up from her. I am lucky to have people around me who are quite animated and I can model my characters on them,” he says.
The film was shot extensively in Noida, and Pulkit, being from Delhi, was more than happy to shoot close to home, even though it became a bit of a problem after the success of his last film. “Once we were shooting at a residential complex in Noida, and all the families from the complex gathered on location. When I entered the lift, everybody tried to enter with me, and the elevator got jammed. The security guys had to finally handle the situation. But it kind of feels nice, because this is the kind of adulation I have always dreamed of,” he says.
O Teri, directed by Umesh Bist and produced by Atul Agnihotri, will release on March 28.
